The Process

How Mass Save Works

This easy to follow 4-step process covers what and how  you can get started on saving money & the environment we live in.

Step 1: Home Energy Assessment
In order to qualify for the HEAT loan, it is necessary to have undergone a home energy assessment within the past two years prior to installation. Complete Any Necessary Weatherization: To be eligible, your system must be installed by a Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN) member.
Step 2: Receive a System Quote

Receive a System Quote Once your Home Energy Assessment has been scheduled, it is time to pick a qualified contractor to provide a quote and install your new system.

When choosing a contractor, keep in mind the following…

  • Qualified Contractor: To qualify, your system must be installed by a member of the Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN)
  • Manual J Calculation: Manual J calculations are necessary to qualify for certain loans. During your estimate, we conduct in-home Manual J calculations to ensure precise system design.
  • Ensure Equipment Qualifies: To be eligible for Mass Save incentives, heat pump equipment must be included on the HPQPL list. For fuel-based systems, they must meet specified efficiency guidelines.
Step 3: Applying for a HEAT Loan

If you’re eligible and wish to make use of the HEAT loan, it’s necessary to submit a loan application before your installation. Mass Save evaluates your project, and upon approval, a participating lender disburses the loan funds. For additional information, please visit MassSave.com.

Step 4: Complete System Installation

Once the preceding steps have been finalized, your installation can move forward.

You are required to cover the total cost of your installation, which is due upon completion of the installation.
