How Mass Save Works


Home Energy Assessment

In order to qualify for the HEAT loan, it is necessary to have undergone a home energy assessment within the past two years prior to installation.

  • Complete Any Necessary Weatherization:

    To be eligible, your system must be installed by a Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN) member.

Receive a System Quote

Once your Home Energy Assessment has been scheduled, it is time to pick a qualified contractor to provide a quote and install your new system. When choosing a contractor, keep in mind the following…

  • Qualified Contractor:

    To qualify, your system must be installed by a member of the Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN)

  • Manual J Calculation:

    Manual J calculations are necessary to qualify for certain loans. During your estimate, we conduct in-home Manual J calculations to ensure precise system design.

  • Ensure Equipment Qualifies:

    To be eligible for Mass Save incentives, heat pump equipment must be included on the HPQPL list. For fuel-based systems, they must meet specified efficiency guidelines.


Applying for a HEAT Loan

  • The installation address
